Kritika Chawla Class of 2018-21

Kritikawas awarded with SRI MUDIYIL PADMANABHA PILLAI GOLD MEDAL & THE ERACHSHAH MANECKJI NANAVUTTY MEMORIAL PRIZE at the 98th Annual Convocation of University of Delhi for standing first among all women candidates in B.A.(Hons) Economics Examination. She was also felicitated with THE RAVI KANTA DEVI PRIZE for being best women candidate in B.A. (Hons) Examination. She is presently pursuing MA Economics at Delhi School of Economics. She feels that the teachers in college are someone you have to bow for their knowledge. They never say no even if you go 100 times to them to ask doubts about same topic. Her advice to juniors is “Don’t do a subject for just marks, think beyond marks and understand the concepts. Run for knowledge, not marks.” Set a balance between academics and activities in college. She was an active member of the Enabling Unit-Jaagritiand Ecosperity – Environmental Club in college.

Namisha Batra Class of 2018-21

“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out”- John Wooden.She did two internships at PayTm and Kaidoko which gave her a fair insight into the corporate World. She also did additional courses in MS Excel, Stata, Monitoring and Evaluation, R to keep up with the fast pacing world. Namisha has been the President and club advisor of Rotaract; active member of Arthashatra; Student Union; Enactus and International cell. Her advice to juniors is to experiment, make mistakes but never ever give up, as there would be no better place than your college life to explore, keep learning and growing.

Mridul Macker Class of 2018-2021

“You never truly know what life holds for you. There’s uncertainty all around us and wonder if it ever gets easier.”Mridul’s inherent interest in writing and literature made hum the President of Meraki, The English Literature Society.He had an insight to the society’s organizational economics; and how manipulating certain situations can be used to fully utilize potential. Meraki taught him how to handle business situations like marketing, sponsorship and managing events. Academically, he bloomed as he explored economics as a subject, something which you once start to understand it, you realize that it’s everywhere and can be applied in almost all the situations. He interned at The Airports Authority of India and completed a research project. Some advice to his juniors is to go ahead and talk to people around you, exchange ideas, join a society not just because of the work it does but because how this work and the people make you feel. Sort out your priorities and don’t do something at the expense of your mental health. Even if there’s uncertainty all around you right now, you’ll learn to mold and make the best use of it as long as you remain curious and brave enough to take a step towards it.

Muskaan Chugh Class of 2018-21

Muskan has a CV that is full of internships, accolades, a fairly good GPA and she has been the President of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell or the ECELL of SGGSCC.According to her, college is a very challenging space, especially emotionally and mentally, it’s actually exhausting and overwhelming sometimes. She advises that one should remember that no matter how difficult the journey is, it’s always worth a shot. In the end, you’ll just become a stronger and a better version of who you were. Do not forget to have fun and make some amazing memories, because ultimately they will stay with you always.

Lakshita Chadha Class of 2017-2020

As the President of Arthashastra, Lakshita believed that “Success is apparent when you have hard-working and keen core members and a hard working team which is an accompaniment to them”. Her inclination was always towards harboring an environment of inclusion and raising the bar. Under her leadershipArthashastra stood 3rd amongst all the Economics societies in DU Assasins’ list. She feels juniors should find a balance between studies and co/extracurricular activities. Lakshitawas a Research Intern at the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) where she got an opportunity to co-author a paper which was published in GOI's Kurukshetra Journal. She did an internships at Children's Education Trust wherein the module made by her for middle school students came under top 5 categories and another internship at Delhi University Press where she learnt about the methodology behind QS University Ranking by ways of data processing. Along with these, she had taken part in a research initiative of the college on Segregation Drive. An article published in Hindustan Times along with the team photograph had elucidated upon their efforts.

Angad Singh Pental Class of 2017-2020

Angad was President of Meraki- English Literary Society was associated with it from the first year as a member, "Event Head" for Meraki's annual fest 'Seshat', and General Secretary in second year. According to him, Meraki gave him many opportunities to learn things that no field in academics could teach me. Despite being an introvert, Merakitaught him how to manage and lead a team, handle myself in business situations, like sponsorships, marketing and event planning. He appreciated that his professors never hesitated to help in any way they could and with their guidance he did two research projects and a research paper. He advises students to participate in activities, attend fests, and make college life mean more than just what you study. Even if you're shy, take the first step! That first step is the hardest part, but when you do, you're definitely going to find someone to pull you forward.

Rakshit Gupta Class of 2017-2020

On joining college as a shy, recluse and reserved person, for Rakshit college changed his perspective and approach in many ways. He became more experimental, an extrovert and gained confidence to meet challenges. He became the proud President of Invictus: College Photography Club and organized many events and workshops. Academically with persistence and hard work he feels he has achieved more than he dreamed of, by clearing six exams of actuarial science and getting placed at Willis Towers Watson as an actuarial analyst.

Gurleen Kaur Jaggi Class of 2017-2020

Gurleen was instrumental in starting the Loktantraa Society and became the President of the Republic Society’s Political Science wing in her final year. Being an extrovert and greatly inclined towards public speaking she joined was Crosswords - the Debating society. She took up internships at Med life - as a customer acquisition intern and another social internship with the Navjyoti foundation. According to her, both the internships were very different and offered a wide variety of learning. She got an opportunity to work in a research project dealing with waste segregation as to get on field exposure of how the primary data is collected and also brought an accolade by getting featured in the Hindustan Times. Her advice to juniors is: Don't be afraid to start, to try and to experiment. Don't allow your self-doubt overpower you and constrain you because the reality is that nobody is actually bothered.

Dhairya Khatri Class of 2017-2020

For Dhairya college has been a place to explore your skills and she did full justice by being an active member and senior coordinator of placement cell, Vice President of political Society wing of Republic, core team member of Seminar Committee and Executive member of Arthashastra. She did six internships in fields of research, economics, finance, marketing, content and development. She feels her internships taught her a lot about professional outlook and how to work in a corporate atmosphere as per company standards. The Add on course on advanced excel in college definitely provided her with an extra edge. Her advice is that “If you can bring smile on even one person’s face each day, your day becomes successful. Take opportunities as and when they come, and always remain supportive of your colleagues.”

Harsimar Kaur Sawhney Class of 2017-2020

Harsimar always adopted a goal oriented approach and placed all her energy in pursuit of economics. She capitalized her theoretical knowledge into practical intelligence, while doing internships with Youth Empowerment Foundation as HR intern and at White Wular Stores Pvt. Ltd. as a Business Development Intern. She was instrumental in initiating a Girls Basketball Team and as a President won accolades at 4 tournaments. A small piece of advice by her: “Never give up and never let anyone doubt your worth”. Join societies and co-curricular activities, attend fests and widen your horizon because you will cherish these memories.

Nitisha Mann, Class of 2008-11

Nitisha Mann of the batch of 2008-11, pursued her Master's and M.Phil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She subsequently cleared the Indian Economic Service examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission in 2016 and secured All-India first rank. She is currently posted as Assistant Director in Economic Division of Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. According to her "I never felt burdened because I enjoyed learning more of Economics and also because my basic concepts had been strong, thanks to the wonderful faculty I had in Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, from where I pursued my B.A. (Hons.) Economics. This college gave me ample opportunities to develop my interest in the subject; the faculty always ensured that the teaching of the subject was interactive other than being highly approachable. I still have my class notes of Maths and Statistics from those days other than all my subject readings."

Prachi Singhal, Class of 2008-11

PrachiSinghal of the batch of 2008-11 is currently posted as Assistant Director (IES, 2016), Ministry of Commerce & Industry. According to her, "SGGSCC is an honour in itself to be associated with all my life. Foundations of my career in Economics were laid in this very institution where the faculty nurtured my interest in the subject and helped me reach the high point of being part of the prestigious Indian Economic Service cadre. The college provides a correct mix for all-round development of students- academics, societies for brushing up personality skills, co- curricular activities and last but not the least, a beautiful campus to make beautiful memories. I owe my college a debt of gratitude and wish to bring laurels to my alma mater with my work."

Devesh Bansal, Class of 2010-13

Devesh Bansal of the batch of 2010-13 pursued his Master's in Economics from Delhi School of Economics and is currently working as a Risk Analyst at American Express. In his words "Three years at SGGSCC not only laid a strong foundation of Economics and Statistics but also contributed towards my all- round development. The outstanding faculty of Economics department provided the much-needed support and guidance, which was essential for my journey ahead. The Economics and Debating society of the college provided a platform for developing interpersonal skills and leadership quality. Ishita Varma of the batch of 2012-15 completed her Masters in Economics from Ambedkar University, Delhi and is now working as an Assistant Professor in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, University of Delhi.

Anoop Virmani of the batch of 2012-15 after completing his Bachelors did his Masters in Business Administration from MDI Gurgaon is now working as Lead Analyst, American Express, Gurgaon.

Piyush Gandhi, Class of 2014-17

Piyush Gandhi a student of the 2014-17 batch and president of Arthashastra, wrote a research paper on Financial Inclusion during his graduation and won several awards for the same. Notably, he got offer letters for admission from Oxford University, London School of Economics and Columbia University and finally went to Oxford for further studies in Economics.

Gundeep Kaur, Class of 2015-18

Gundeep Kaur a student of the 2015-18 batch, held the positions of General Secretary and Vice president of Arthashastra during her graduation years. She got successfully placed in Ernst and Young, Global Delivery Services in the Advisory Department.
